Rakoczy Festival at Bad Kissingen

Every year at the end of July, the town of Bad Kissingen holds a great festival to commemorate the rediscovery of the Rakoczy Mineral Spring in 1737 AD, which in those days made even kings and emperors come to Bad Kissingen for health reasons. The spring is named after the Hungarian prince Rakoczy (1676-1735).

As in the years before, a balloon meeting was also held on the occasion of this festival.

Altogether, nine big balloons and five models took part, on the upper picture Bernd Schwab with one of his models, on the right our penguin and the model of Volkmar Schneider from Dresden.

On Saturday evening, the night glow of the balloons took place, and after that, we hit the town, of course! In all streets in the inner city, stands, tables and chairs had been put up, and at several places, stages had been installed...

... on which bands were playing until early in the morning. A great open air party on a warm summer night... and oh, we drank lots of alcohol...

So we were in fact quite happy that the balloon flight on sunday morning had already been cancelled due to lack of passengers... ;-)
